Our own heirloom dill, densely sown in a red party cup (same volume as a 4” pot)
Dill is an excellent herb for growing on the kitchen windowsill, ready to snip for an unbeatable fresh garnish.
If transplanted, dill develops thick, crunchy stalks — ideal for pickling — before flowering. When dill blooms, it serves as a host plant for Black Swallowtail butterflies. Its golden‑yellow flowers attract them as well as other pollinators and yields dill seed for additional plantings or culinary use.
Variety “Mammoth.” Plant age varies, photos taken 5/13/2026.
